Be@nS

BEANS ARE A HIGH-FIBRE, low-fat, vitamin-packed source of protein and now there are even more reasons to eat them.

They're chock-full of antioxidants. Black beans offer the most benefit, followed by lentils, black soya beans and red kidney beans, says a new study from North Dakota State University. The high levels of phytochemicals may help prevent hardening of the arteries by reducing plaque build-up and keeping blood vessels healthy.

They lower cholesterol. People at risk of developing diabetes lowered total and LDL (bad) cholesterol by more than eight percent when they ate 120ml of pinto beans a day for eight weeks, according to a recent Arizona State University study. (In comparison, 120ml of oatmeal a day lowers cholesterol by about 2 percent.)

They prevent disease. Studies show that nutrients in legumes may also protect against Alzheimer's as well as breast and colon cancers.

New Pleasure Principle

An artilcle I thought of to share...

We talked with University of Oxford neuroscientist Morten Kringelbach, author of The Pleasure Center, about his revoluntionary research and our constant craving to feel good.

What do people find most pleasurable in their daily lives?
Sex. But number two is being with friends. Almost everything we find pleasurable, including eating and drinking, is so much better when doing it with someone else.

Can pleasure be used as medicine?
We can implant electrodes in the brain of a person in pain. When we stimulate the right spots, the pain actually goes away and the relief is very pleasurable.

Why do we sometimes feel guilty about indulging in pleasure?
Guilt is like a built-in stop valve. If we overindulge in one thing, such as sex, food or drugs, it can become and addiction that we feed to the exclusion of the thing that gives us the most long-term pleasure - other people.

How can we live a more pleasurable life?
There's no magic here. Enjoy your family and friends, and work less. The simples pleasures really are the best ones.

Have Faith

This photo reminds me of you...
An open-hearted chat..
Lots of stories we'd shared...
It's good to get a chance to know each other better...

This wasn't really a good shot of photo...
Though, I have all kind of thoughts...
When you said you might be alone...
When you said you have to get used to be by your own...

Some part of me could feel your loneliness...
I was speechless...
When you have no shoulders to cry on...
When you have no one to share a laugh...

Have faith in yourself!
Be healthy, and happy....
Always...

Silent Night

The restaurant was so crowded...
and the staff here were busy serving customers.
Yet, the night seem so quiet to me...am I lost in my own world again?
Or am I just too calm in mind?

I have no answers to me indeed...

Things doesn't go well...
Ar, let it be...
Lame?
Who cares anyway?

This language really drives me dizzy....
By the end of the class, I felt like my brain is not inside my head anymore!
I can't think man!
Too many things stuffed in my head, jammed!
Gosh, this is like learning dancing!
Mission impossible!

No! No! No!
Gotta keep my spirit high!
Hehe...besides, no pressure....
Just a leisure course....
Such an irresponsible lame excuse to get lazy....

Try Something Different

When we first read the following story, we had just begun teaching a course called "The Million Dollar Forum", a course designed to teach people to accelerate their income up to levels of a million dollars a year or more. Early on we discovered people get locked into a rut of trying harder without trying smarter. Trying harder doesn't always work. Sometimes we need to do something radically different to achieve greater levels of success. We need to break out of our paradigm prisons, our habit patterns and our comfort zones.

I'm sitting in a quiet room at the Milcroft Inn, a peaceful little place hidden back among the pine trees about an hour out of Toronto. It's just past noon, late July, and I'm listening to the desperate sounds of life-or-death struggle going on a few feet away.

There's a small fly burning out the last of its short life's energies in a futile attempt to fly through the glass of the windowpane. The whining wings tell the poignant story of the fly's strategy: Try harder.

But it's not working.

The frenzied effort offers tno hope for survival. Ironically, the struggle is part of the trap. It is impossible for the fly to try hard enough to succeed at breaking through the glass. Nevertheless, this little insect has staked its life on reaching its goal through raw effort and determination.

This fly is doomed. It will die there on the windowsill.

Across the room, ten steps away, the door is open. Ten seconds of flying time and this small creature could reach the outside world it seeks. With only a fraction of the effort now being wasted, it could be free of this self-imposed trap. The breakthrough possibility is there. It would be so easy.

Why doesn't the fly try another approach, something dramatically different? How did it get so locked in on the idea that this particular route and determined effort offer the most promise for success? What logic is there in continuing until death to seek a breakthrough with more of the same?

No doubt this approach makes sense to the fly. Regrettably, it's an idea that will kill.

Trying harder
isn't necessarily the solution to achieving more. It may not offer any real promise for getting what you want out of life. Sometimes, in fact, it's a big part of the problem.

If you stake your hopes for a breakthrough on trying harder than ever, you may kill your chances for success.

Great Smile

*** photo found over internet, gracias ***

"How old are you?"
"xx."
"How long already is your braces with you?"
"Hmm, started a month ago."
"Oh, I told my elder sis to not take the ortho treatment as she is too old for that."
"Oh, how old is your sis?"
"Oh, she's kinda young..I have seen so many ortho patients are normally teenagers.."

(confused... =.=")
(confused... =.=")
(I supposed the 'sis' age is very much younger than I)

The situation was a little..hmm, embarrass I guess. I was thinking that if her sis is too old, then I must be in nanny age..haa)))))) I guess somebody just said that I am the one that is too old for ortho treatment? LOL

Well oh well, it's OK. I guess you should give a little support to your sis if she is really thinking of getting braces though. I mean ofcourse you have to go for a certified orthodontist to see if the treatment is necessary. If he/she didn't say it is too late for that, please do not speak on behalf.

Everybody deserves a great smile!
